Obtaining a Business Operating Permit

GENERAL GUIDELINES

Local Government assemblies may have differences in their registration procedures however these are general guidelines common among them.

HOW TO OBTAIN A BUSINESS OPERATING PERMIT

APPLYING FOR A BUSINESS LICENSE

The Municipal Assembly requires that anyone or organization intending to carry on a business or profession as a whole should first endeavor to apply for an Operating License to make legal the existence of the business. The Revenue Unit of the Municipal Assembly as indicated earlier handles the applications for this license.

BUSINESS CHANGES & CLOSURES

Any change of name of business or closure of business should also be communicated to the same outfit for an update on records for future decisions. Please note that an operating license is not transferable. Transfer of ownership is considered termination of license agreement. Also, a new business cannot use the license of an old business.

BUSINESS LICENSE RENEWALS

Businesses in the Municipality must renew their Business Operating Permits Licenses Annually. The renewal can be done using the same procedure you passed through in applying for the operating License.
